Curriculum

The Physical Education program at East Lyme Middle School is designed to teach skills, knowledge, sportsmanship, and wellness concepts through participation in a wide variety of physical activities. Students receive instruction from a certified Physical Education teacher every other day throughout the school year.

*As a result of participating in the Physical Education program at East Lyme Middle School, students will:

Demonstrate competency in motor skills and movement patterns needed to perform a variety of physical activities;

Make decisions to establish and maintain a healthy lifestyle to promote individual wellness throughout his or her life;

Recognize and understand the different effects of physical activity on one's mind and body;

Exhibit responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and others in physical activity settings;

Practice good health habits by changing into appropriate PE attire and wearing athletic sneakers for activity;

Develop interpersonal skills and exhibit positive character traits during physical activity.
