Join the Elementary Summer Math Challenge!
Dear Parents and Guardians:
Students in Grades K-4 have the opportunity to participate in the 2024 Commissioner’s Summer Math Challenge which begins on July 1st. The program is FREE and is designed to help students maintain math skills through the summer.
Khan Academy Get Ready for Grade Level
1. Go to Khan Academy Get Ready for Grade Level to enroll your child.
2. Access daily fun activities and resources designed for your child’s grade and ability level.
3. At the conclusion of the challenge, record the number of missions completed on the Summer Math Log and bring it back to school in September.
Connecticut’s Summer Math Passport Grades K–4
1. Go to the Summer Math Challenge Website
2. Scroll down to the CT Summer Math Passport Tasks. Complete the problems on each task that correspond to your grade level. The first passport topic is math at the beach.
3. When summer ends, record your adventures on the Summer Math Log and bring it back to school in September.
Greg Tang Summer Math Challenge Grades K-4
1. Go to Greg Tang Summer Math Challenge to find a Greg Tang Game Board designed for your child’s grade and ability level.
2. Encourage your child to play each game listed on the game board Greg Tang Math Games.
3. Have your child complete the Summer Math Log and bring it back to school in September.

Khan Academy: Get Ready for Grade Levels 3-4

Grades K-4
Connecticut's Summer Math Passport
- Go to the Summer Math Challenge Website and scroll down to the CT Summer Passport Tasks. There are different themes for each week. The first passport topic is math at the Beach.
- Complete the problems for each category that correspond to your grade level in the passport.
- When summer ends, record your adventures on the Summer Math Log and give it to your teacher in September.
Greg Tang Summer Math Challenge
- Go to Greg Tang Summer Math Challenge to find a Game Board designed for your child's grade and ability level.
- Encourage your child to play each game for 15 minutes Greg Tang Math Games.
- It is fine for students to get help if they need it.
- Have your child complete the Summer Math Log and give it to their classroom teacher in September.
End Your Day with Bedtime Math
Here's how it works:
- Add a little Math to your summer reading!
- Bedtime Math posts a New Math Problem every night on its website.
- Each problem begins with a short, fun story, followed by three math problems at three levels of challenge.
- When summer ends, record the number of math problems completed on the Summer Math Log and give it to your teacher in September.
