Special Education in East Lyme Public Schools

East Lyme Public Schools is committed to ensuring that every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed. We provide special education services for students ages 3–22 who qualify under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Our district offers a full continuum of services and supports designed to meet the unique needs of each learner. Students are educated in the least restrictive environment, meaning they learn alongside their peers in general education settings whenever appropriate. Special education classes and related services are provided when additional support is needed to help students thrive.

We believe in collaboration and partnership. Our educators, specialists, and families work together to develop individualized education programs (IEPs) that focus on academic achievement, social and emotional growth, and preparation for life beyond school.

Above all, our goal is to create an inclusive, supportive school community where every student feels valued and is equipped with the tools they need to reach their full potential.
