east Lyme solar project

“The whole concept of think global, act local – that’s what our students will be seeing firsthand...” - Laura Ashburn, ELHS Science Teacher

Photographs of the high school solar panels were taken from a Bi-Plane flyover by “our own” East Lyme High School Social Studies teacher, Will Reed.

Think global, act local...

Constellation Energy brought the 481 kW solar photovoltaic (PV) roof-top system on line in March 2009. The system uses approximately 2,800 Solar World 175 watt crystalline solar panels, positioned to maximize the sun exposure. The system is one of the largest solar projects at a public entity in New England and the largest at a public school in Connecticut.

Per the Hartford Business Journal – East Lyme High School is the “Largest Clean Energy-Powered Building in Connecticut”.  East Lyme High School saves approximately $33,000 annually in electricity costs from the system.
