Student parking at ELHS is always a big concern for both students and parents who have personal vehicles available for student transportation.  Unfortunately we have a very limited number of parking spots available for students. I can appreciate the difficulty and inconvenience this causes for families and students, however, we are not able to accommodate all student drivers at this time and I appreciate your consideration and understanding regarding this matter.

Students who are eligible to park pay a $50.00 parking permit fee and must display a hanging parking permit tag from their rear view mirror at all times while parked on ELHS school property.

Eligible students who are caught parking without a parking permit will pay a $75.00 parking permit fee in order to obtain their parking permit.  Additionally, students who park without permission may be subject to a $50.00 “Boot” fine as well as any other administrative actions deemed necessary by the administration.

Students are reminded that they are responsible for adhering to and following all State of Connecticut Motor Vehicle Laws.  Serious violations of these laws may lead to the revocation of the students parking privileges and referral to the East Lyme Police Department.

The following information is provided for your convenience and information:

1.      Student parking permits are available to SENIORS commencing one week prior to the start of school and during the school year during regular business hours. Seniors are strongly encouraged to obtain a parking permit during the week prior to the start of school as the parking spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis.

2.      The contact secretary for parking permits is Mrs. Paula Worthington, Room A98, first floor in the auditorium hallway at 739-1430/739-1238.

3.      Juniors shall not park on school grounds. Upon determination by the school administration that sufficient parking spots are available, then and only then, may a lottery system be utilized to issue additional parking permits.

4.      Sophomores are not allowed to park on campus at all during the regular school day hours.

5.      Parking enforcement will be conducted throughout the school year, to include an emphasis at the beginning of the school year. Disciplinary action relative to parking enforcement is included in the student handbook.

6.      Students are not allowed to park next to the pool, in the Flanders School parking lot or in the faculty parking lot at any time during regular school hours.

Thank you for your understanding and anticipated cooperation on this matter. If you have any questions and/or concerns I can be reached at 739-1519.
