Good afternoon,

I hope you all enjoyed a long weekend last week.  We ducked the last winter storm luckily and did not lose another day off our calendar.   It looks like it may warm up in the next few days which would be welcome after the long spell we have endured.  I hope you enjoy the upcoming weekend!

At Niantic Center, we continue to work on our goals and initiatives in our Niantic Center School Improvement Plan.  As a part of that, we continue to develop our new English Language Arts and Math curriculums.  This week we were visited again by Director of LitLife Connecticut Jen Scoggin, and our teachers participated with her in their classrooms.  Your students may come home and tell you Jen was in their class, and this is why.  Our teachers are also hard at work readying their report cards, which will arrive home in the next few weeks. In addition, we are completing some of our mid-year assessments so that information can be included.

Last Friday, we had another Popcorn Day.  It was a huge success.  Thanks to the PTA for sponsoring these events and coming in really early to prepare it!  Speaking of events, we have had to put on hold the scheduled February Movie Night, due to availability and the cost of some of the venues we were pursuing.  We will update you with a new time/event soon.  Please attend a PTA meeting in the future if you have an opportunity.  As always, thank you to the PTA for all they do for our students.

Mr. Newton sent home a letter from Central Office recently on the attendance policy.  Please take a moment to read this as we have begun to use the automated call system and are sending letters home for attendance in line with the state statutes.  Thank you for your cooperation in this matter.

Annual Slide Show for Purchase

We have had many requests from families who want to purchase the 2017-18 slide show, which features multiple pictures of every K-4 student throughout the school year and is set to music. We will take pre-orders with order forms (see below).  We will post information in the Digital Backpack, too. The cost will be $10.
